New Holland dealership RP Motors building new facility in Werribee South

The Piovesan family will build a new multi-million dollar machinery service and repair facility to better cater to the needs of Werribee South farmers.
For more than 50 years the family has run RP Motors, founded by Roberto and Vilma Piovesan, in 1970.
The New Holland dealership will soon boast a 1300m2 facility, which will speed up service times and reduce waiting times.
RP Motors representative Joshua Piovesan said they had made the investment to ensure the business could continue to provide customers a high level of service.
"With service and repair of agricultural machinery becoming increasingly specialised, we felt the need to upgrade our original service department facility, which has been in operation since 1991," Mr Piovesan said.
"Our intention is to set a new benchmark for today's agricultural machinery dealership and remain forward-thinking."
The new facility will include 18 service bays, and a dedicated wash bay and service pit.
Two, five tonne overhead gantry cranes will also be installed to help move large tractor parts like engines and cabins.
For every two bays there will be an eight metre roller door, making it easier to manoeuvre tractors in and out of the building.
"Over the last decade, we've increasingly seen market gardeners operate machinery up to 500 horsepower," Mr Piovesan said.
"The new service facility allows us to comfortably service several of even the largest tractors at any given time."
Offices with digital signage, a comfortable customer waiting area, and a mezzanine floor with a passenger lift will also be included in the facility.
There will be a fully-equipped employee breakroom, which will provide space for training and staff meetings.
"We want to ensure our qualified technicians are continually learning about the latest tractor technologies such as PLM Intelligence and product training programs," Mr Piovesan said.
"To maintain our exceptional customer service, our team of technicians, apprentices and customer service staff take advantage of a number of training programs.
"This includes New Holland's partnership with TAFE NSW, which provides a New Holland agricultural specific course for apprentice and service technicians."

Three generations of the Piovesan family have run the R.P Motors dealership in Werribee South. Roberto and Vilma Piovesan opened the business in the 1970s, as a small mechanical repairs shop. R.P Motors is now run by their son Robert and grandson, Joshua Piovesan. The 19-year-old, who is also completing a Bachelor of Business online through the Swinburne University of Technology, chats with Star Weekly.
What do you enjoy most about working in the family business?
I find working in the family business is enjoyable, we trust one another and are all very committed to the company’s success. Learning from my successful father Robert has helped me, especially to understand the needs of our customers. What’s most interesting about Werribee South is that the farming community is generational. Our key accounts and customers have been with us for decades. Market gardening is an extremely niche market.
Apart from your father Robert, mother Daphne and aunt Melissa, do any other family members work in the business too?
At the moment, no, however, I have two younger brothers, who may be interested in joining the family business in the future.
Do your grandparents sometimes still pop into the business to say hello?
Both my grandparents, Robert Senior and Vilma, are still very interested in our business and its operations.
How the COVID-19 pandemic impacted upon the business?
We have been very fortunate in the fact we’ve had a very strong growth period during the pandemic – favourable vegetable commodity prices have seen an increased demand for machinery. It’s been a great 12 months.
R.P Motors also has a partnership with TAFE and New Holland specialised training courses?
R.P Motors currently offers training programs to continually develop our technicians, apprentices and customer service staff. We also ensure our qualified technicians regularly attend service training, so they too are on top of the latest technology and further develop their skills.
You recently delivered two New Holland GENESIS T8 tractors to a Werribee South family which have been customers since the 1970s, is that right?
As a local third generation vegetable grower in Werribee South, Damien Cecchin is continuing his family’s long-standing relationship as a customer of R.P Motors. Since the 1950s, Damien’s grandparents Ermenegildo ‘Gildo’ and Lina Cecchin began farming in Werribee South. Damien’s father Robert and his uncle Steven assisted in the family business. Our grandfathers and fathers both did business together. Damien and I went to school together and now we are both following our family’s tradition – the Cecchin family has just taken delivery of the latest T8 PLM Intelligence tractor from R.P. Motors.
Do you have any plans for the business, going forward into the future?
I would like to continue my family’s legacy and ensure the company’s good management. Also, R.P. Motors is currently constructing a multimillion-dollar service facility, which is due to be completed by the end of the year. In addition to R.P. Motors, our family is committed to philanthropy – in particular supporting Variety Australia.

A love of machinery is in the blood of Victoria's Piovesan family.
For more than 50 years they have been catering to the needs of growers in the market gardens precinct of Werribee South through their business, R.P. Motors.
The business celebrated its 50th anniversary last year and some of its first customers still come to visit the founders, Roberto and Vilma Piovesan.
Their son, Robert, is now the dealer principal and their grandson, Joshua, is the third generation working in the proudly family-owned business.
Joshua works alongside his mother, Daphne Piovesan, and aunt, Melissa Snape.
Werribee South is a vegetable growing region south west of Melbourne producing lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, fennel and cabbages.
The produce is grown intensively all year round so it is essential customers get the most out of their machinery and its technology.
"What's most interesting about Werribee South is that the farming community is generational," Joshua Piovesan said.
"Our key accounts and customers have been with us for decades. Market gardening is an extremely niche market."
Mr. Piovesan said R.P. Motors has stood behind customers through drought, commodity price volatility, and the other changes market gardening has seen over the decades.
"For our customers, running more efficiently is essential to their business' viability," he said.
"We support them when purchasing their machinery - tailoring their machinery requirements to suit their needs, through to the service and parts support after the sale.”
"These key pillars have contributed to R.P. Motors' success as a business over the five decades."
Mr. Piovesan recently completed his Victorian Certificate of Education and is now studying a Bachelor of Business via Swinburne Online, the online arm of Swinburne University of Technology.
The growing need for highly skilled parts and service technicians in recent years has led to R.P. Motors' strong partnerships with TAFE and New Holland for specialised training courses.

"We also ensure our qualified technicians regularly attend service training, so they too are on top of the latest technology and further develop their skills."
One of the customers that have been farming in the district since the 1950s is the Cecchin family.
Damien Cecchin is a third-generation vegetable grower and his family has continued its long-standing relationship as customers of RP Motors with the recent purchase of a New Holland T8 PLMi tractor.
"My grandfather Gildo dealt with Roberto Piovesan, and then their sons did business together. Joshua and I went to school together and now we are both following our family's tradition," Mr. Cecchin said.
"Farming is difficult, but it is satisfying to know that we are providing people with a variety of quality vegetables all around the world, and with the excellent service and support of R.P. Motors over the decades we will continue to deliver for our customers."
